Great Opening Day
Our opening day took place in lovely sunshine last Saturday.
There was a great turn out of members to see in the new season and
piper Ross French led the greens party on to the north bowling green to kick off the proceedings.
Club Secretary Steven McLaren welcomed everyone and introduced the Directors and Guest, Mr David Kirkwood from Motherwell & District Leagues.
President Colin then said how pleased and honoured he is to be President of this great club and promised to work hard for all our members and uphold our traditions during his year in office. He thanked his wife, family and friends for coming today and supporting him throughout his bowling career. He also made special mention and thanks to his old coach, Ernie Steel who was also there and has been present at many events to support him since he started bowling at 9 years old.
Colin’s wife Jennifer then delivered the first bowl of the season and the first ball on the Tennis Court to applause from all !
There was an excellent buffet and drinks for everyone, followed games of tennis and bowls.
In the evening, live entertainment from ‘Spider’ rounded off a very successful day.
