UBTC TENNIS NEWSLETTER JULY 2026

SOCIAL

Our social events continue with our usual Sunday, Tuesday, Friday mornings, and of course our Wednesday evening. Plus, the extra fun day events throughout the year.

 We have pulled our chats into a community group chat to allow members the opportunity to engage in what they want to be part of in our progressive club.

Whether it is our club information, team groups, social groups, or our new general chat, it is there for you to decide what you want to be part of.

This will allow important current club information to stay at the forefront without it becoming lost in a sea of chit chat.

The new community chat is there for all our follow-on chat, eg steak pie, Dougie B., general tennis fun. We have a wonderful sense of humour within our tennis members which we want to continue. Teamwork makes the dream work.

Our club ethos is verging on the best it has been and this is thanks to all of you.

Summer holidays are here, 

Relax with a beer ,

Hit a tennis ball or two,

It’s a fun time for you,

We’ve ordered some sun,

So, it don’t matter if you won,

Eat, drink, and make chat,

As UBTC is where it’s at!

Ah, well, I tried

Nominal charge as usual on the day.

Coaching

Luke will run more camps during school holidays. These will be posted on chats and social media.

There will also be adult ad-hoc sessions following the success of today’s session. Look out for these on all our platforms. Any coaching questions please contact Luke who is happy to help.

TEAMS

Our summer leagues are nearing completion.

When our gents, ladies, juniors, and mixed teams have completed all their matches, more info on their results will sent in a teams’ newsletter. (So much to write about );

We have some great achievements already , so fingers crossed there is more to add.

Guests

Reminder that full adult playing members can invite a guest to play on our greens and courts. The guest fee is £5 per visit with the guest visiting a maximum of 3 visits in a club year. Please let Ellis, membership secretary, know of your intention to bring a guest and give her the person’s name. Then please pay the £5 guest fee immediately after play. This allows for weather stopping play and monies needing returned. Payment is to the fees account please.  Note: Junior members cannot bring a guest.

CAR BOOT SALE EVENTS AT UBTC

As well as the monthly Food Market, , held on the last Sunday of each month in club car park, UBTC, is now looking at holding a car boot sale. The dates are 12th September, 11th October, 22nd November. 9 am to 1pm. Pitch fee £10. Poster below,

Floodlights

Can all members please remember to switch off floodlights when they are leaving the courts. If we do not do this then the club is paying for unnecessary electricity.

Please also ensure the gate entry system is actioned by ensuring the gate closes securely behind you.
